Human-AI Symbiosis & Convivial Networks

The Architecture
of Agency

Preserve the human. Evolve the framework.

Dolo_OS is a contextual operating system built for genuine human-AI symbiosis. We reject ambient automation in favour of deliberate, Socratic collaboration where the person remains the absolute Writer of Record.

The Ground Theory

The Human Half

Before Dolo was an architecture, it was a question: How do we integrate artificial intelligence without surrendering our cognitive agency?

Explored extensively in The Human Half research series, the foundational theory of Dolo rests on the concept of "convivial tools" and the extended mind.

Modern AI often acts as an oracle, anticipating our needs and quietly automating us into passive consumers. The Human Half posits a different path: AI as a deliberate sparring partner that challenges, reflects, and fortifies the human intellect.

Theory without architecture is just philosophy.

CORE OBJECTIVE

Keeping the Person in Control

Most systems treat AI as an autonomous proxy that quietly anticipates you into passivity. Dolo flips the architecture: the person stays the sole Writer of Record. The AI is a Socratic challenger that sharpens your thinking, keeps your private notes private, and only acts when you ask it to.

Set the consultation rule: the system waits until a person explicitly asks. No background nudging, no unsolicited steering.

## Focus
Evaluating the boundary between ambient convenience and human control.

## Reflections
Surfaced a real tension: silent data hydration strips intentionality. Moving toward announced invocation only — the system never reaches into context without being asked.

What you're looking at: a real reflection entry from a working cohort. The person writes; Dolo challenges and records. Nothing is logged unless someone deliberately puts it there.

Start Small

What a first cohort looks like

Trying Dolo doesn't mean adopting a platform. A first cohort is small, bounded, and entirely under your control — built so the easiest thing to do is start, and the second-easiest is stop.

01 — Scope

Small and bounded

One cohort, a handful of people, a single real task. Roughly six weeks, scoped to one question worth answering — not a platform migration.

02 — Control

You stay in control

Every member decides what they share and what stays private. The system only acts when asked, and nothing runs in the background. Consent and oversight are the defaults, not add-ons.

03 — Exit

Easy to leave

Members can withdraw or take their own record with them at any time. No lock-in, no data held hostage. The exit is built into the architecture, not bolted on.

Talk to me directly

I'm Robin. I've been building Dolo since 2022 — first as a question about keeping human agency intact, now as a working system. It isn't a one-size-fits-all product; it adapts to the people using it. Tell me about the challenges in your environment and we'll talk about whether a small first cohort makes sense. No sales funnels, no bots — just a direct line to me.
